About the Market
Schenectady Greenmarket is one of the Capital Region’s most vibrant community destinations, bringing together local vendors, shoppers, musicians, nonprofits, and families every Sunday in the heart of Downtown Schenectady. Our mission is to strengthen the connection between farm and city by supporting a sustainable, responsible local food system—and we invite sponsors to help us expand this impact.
Since 2008, the market has offered residents and visitors access to fresh, local produce, farm-to-table prepared foods, and high-quality artisan goods from more than 80 diverse vendors. Each week, the market draws 2,000–5,000 visitors, making it one of the most consistently attended community events in Schenectady and a major driver of downtown foot traffic.
As a community hub, the market provides space for nonprofits to share their work, offers free entertainment for families, and donates thousands of pounds of fresh food to local organizations. Our commitment to food access includes one of the region’s strongest EBT/SNAP programs, participation in Double Up Food Bucks, and our growing Food Box Program, which helps ensure that all residents have access to healthy, local food.
Schenectady Greenmarket operates year-round—outdoors around City Hall from April through November, and indoors at Proctors from December through March—running every Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM, rain or shine. While many visitors live in Schenectady, the market attracts shoppers from across the Capital Region and has transformed Sundays into the busiest day of the week for downtown businesses.
