Who we are.

We are a community of vendors, shoppers, musicians and friends.

Our mission is to build a future in which Schenectady Greenmarket is an integral part of downtown’s cultural landscape, connecting farm and city to create a responsible, sustainable food system.

Established in 2008

Since 2008, Schenectady Greenmarket has been a place to buy fresh local produce and artisan goods in a festive community atmosphere. The market includes over 60 diverse vendors and offers our shoppers the best of local produce, prepared foods, and crafts.

Every week, vendors donate bushels of beautiful, fresh produce, artisan bread and eggs to Schenectady Inner City Ministry Food Pantry, City Mission, Safe House, Booth Home, and the Salvation Army with the help of volunteers from Capital Roots' Squash Hunger Program.

Connect with the Schenectady Greenmarket Community

Community Tables and Events:

Schenectady Greenmarket offers space to local community groups so they can share their knowledge and creativity with our customers, while providing the opportunity for you to promote your organization.

You can run a cooking demonstration, a kids’ activity, teach a craft, share your gardening expertise, give the community a taste of your upcoming musical, or just chat with folks about what services your group provides.  It is your chance to meet with your neighbors and introduce them to whatever your organizations does.

We provide space in the middle of a bustling market, a tent, tables, chairs and advertising in our popular newsletter, which goes out on the Thursday before the market.  We will promote you and we hope that you will promote Schenectady Greenmarket too! (Promote via social media, website, etc.…)  We would love to share the news of the work that your group does to help Schenectady.
