Together, we are a community.

Our mission: As a regional farmers market, we are an integral part of Schenectady’s cultural landscape, connecting farm and city to create a resilient, equitable and sustainable food system.

We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse marketplace that is accessible for all community members with vendors who reflect the diverse cultures and experiences of our surrounding communities.

We collaborate with community partners to educate ourselves and community about farmers, healthy food and food access.

Since 2008, Schenectady Greenmarket has been a place to buy fresh local produce and artisan goods in a festive community atmosphere. The market includes over 60 diverse vendors and offers our shoppers the best of local produce, prepared foods, and crafts.

Parking

Free parking for the Schenectady Greenmarket is conveniently available within walking distance of both City Hall and Proctors, including the Broadway parking garage and six nearby surface lots. All parking areas offer handicap-accessible options for shoppers.

Please note: On Sundays when Proctors hosts a performance, the lot directly behind Proctors (Clinton South Lot) will begin charging a parking fee. Schenectady Greenmarket customers may park in this lot for free until 11 AM, after which standard parking rates apply.

Schenectady Greenmarket welcomes well-behaved dogs at our outdoor market, but we ask that pets stay home on especially hot days for their safety. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors, please follow these guidelines:

  • Dogs must remain on a non-extendable leash (4 feet or shorter) at all times.

  • Keep dogs under control and at your side, away from produce, plants, prepared foods, and other shoppers.

  • Aggressive, anxious, or untrained dogs should not attend the market.

  • Owners are required to clean up after their dogs.

  • Market management may ask any owner to remove a dog showing aggressive, loud, or disruptive behavior.

PLEASE NOTE: For Winter Market at Proctors, only service animals are permitted indoors per Proctors’ policy.

FAQs

What are the market hours?

The Schenectady Greenmarket is open every Sunday from 10 AM–2 PM. We operate outdoors from spring through fall and move indoors to Proctors for the Winter Market season.

Where is the market located?

Our outdoor market is held around Schenectady City Hall in Downtown Schenectady, with vendors lining Jay Street, Franklin Street, and the City Hall grounds. The Winter Market takes place inside Proctors Theatre.

Is parking available nearby?

Yes — shoppers can enjoy free parking within walking distance at the Broadway parking garage and several nearby surface lots. All lots are handicap-accessible. When Proctors has a Sunday performance, their back lot remains free for market shoppers until 11 AM.

Are dogs allowed at the market?

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome at our outdoor market. For safety reasons, please avoid bringing pets on extremely hot days. Dogs must remain on a short, non-extendable leash, stay under control, and be kept away from food and produce.

Only service animals are allowed inside at the Winter Market.

Which payment methods do vendors accept?

All vendors accept cash, and many take credit or debit cards. If you need cash, you can purchase $5 market tokens with a card at the market table or use the on-site ATM. Shoppers with EBT/SNAP can sign up for a Double Up Food Bucks Loyalty Card at the market table.

How do I become a vendor?

Prospective vendors can apply online through our Become a Vendor page. We welcome farmers, food producers, makers, and artisans who grow or create the products they sell.
